Dr. Deepali Prabhat is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and a Lifestyle Medicine Specialist.
First-born to doctor parents, Dr. Deepali Prabhat grew up in Dadar (Mumbai) with three siblings, lots of academics and adventure, always surrounded by a large extended family.
She joined the Seth G.S.Medical College from where she completed her MBBS and then her postgraduation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from KEM Hospital and Bai Jerbai Nowrosjee Maternity Hospital.
Having met her partner for life, a dynamic and talented ENT Surgeon, she became a young mother during her residency years and the next decade was a balancing act between motherhood, family responsibilities and career. Around the same time, she joined her father, a renowned Pediatrician to work at grassroot level of slums of Mumbai with an NGO, The Centre for study of Social Change, an experience over the next two decades to come that widened her sensibilities towards a huge population living with very little means, difficult surroundings yet happy and content. After her son left for his undergraduate studies overseas, she went back to academics and did her advanced training in Fertility, Ultrasonography, Endoscopy, Hypnobirthing and Masters in Population Sciences and more recently Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine.
Inspired by her mother an excellent cook, from a young age she also pursued many courses in culinary sciences including Baking from the Dadar Catering College. A foodie at heart, she has always struggled with ups and down in her body weight during phases of sedentary and active periods of her life. This drove her towards exploring more about nutrition and healthy lifestyles which was unfortunately not stressed on enough during her medical education.
Being spiritually inclined, she turned vegetarian almost two decades back and then plant-based about 5 years ago. She also got a chance to do the inner engineering course under the auspices of Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev, Isha foundation about 15 years ago, a practice she continues on a daily basis till date. All these experiences have allowed her to strike a work life balance and she also incorporates these principles while advising and treating her patients.
An avid nature lover, her hobbies are gardening, travelling and learning new things and passions are cooking and dancing. She is learning Kathak since last 5 years and tries to remain fit with walking, strength training and dance.
